This group sits around a room calling out show names.  One person writes them on \u201csticky notes,\u201d and places them on the wall, to collate and memorialize the titles. Let\u2019s do that one, I loved that show,\u201d barks another regarding a separate title.\n\nInvariably, someone yells out \u201cI know if we did High School Musical again, we would sell it out. It was just bad timing.\u201d  It\u2019s always the marketing guy, Mark, who wants to prove it was a fluke that his daughter\u2019s favorite show didn\u2019t draw the crowds we draw today. Usually someone agrees, then we all laugh and move on, knowing the show will probably never again make the cut.\n<\/p>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-76fdd0b\" data-id=\"76fdd0b\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-85991f7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"85991f7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Eventually, the group narrows the show list to about a dozen.  Most of them are musicals.  We try not to repeat a show any more recently than five to seven years, and that\u2019s where the biggest challenge comes in. It\u2019s like trying to read the mind of 50,000 people who trust us to select great shows. Our first line of defense is always, \u201cWe know our audience will love this show.\u201d Those go on the A-list. The next conversation is usually, \u201cif we can get it, will the audience will love this show, or is it a little too outside the box of our usual fare?\" This is typically a show like Tennessee Williams\u2019 <i>Glass Menagerie,<\/i> which we are featuring in 2021.  Those of us the in the room know it\u2019s a great show.  We remember the movie, and it was wonderful. But will a straight drama \u201csell\u201d at The Alhambra. Well, there is really only one way to find out!\n\nOur summer family shows are always a fun one to debate. Honestly, the list is far shorter than you\u2019d think. This year\u2019s summer show, <i>Seussical the Musical<\/i> was actually our second choice, but the first choice is currently on tour, so here we are \u2013 and joyfully! We had a blast running Seussical the first time we did it (which was longer ago than we remembered), and we\u2019re eager to run it again this summer.<\/p>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7c2789b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7c2789b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u201cIt's not as easy as it sounds! A lot of factors go into picking a season.\u201d<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1beccc4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1beccc4\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-72cfa1c\" data-id=\"72cfa1c\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-714911f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"714911f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">There are other factors: the size of the cast, the reality of the the set designs, etc. For example, we\u2019ve never been able to run <i>Peter Pan <\/i> because we have a low fly gallery, also known as the gallery or catwalk above the stage floor from which counterweight and rope rigging is operated. Often, we try to find a \u201cstar\u201d vehicle in which we feature a popular actor.
